The view from our front yard in Autumn: The Sandia
Mountains. They light up bright orange during sunsets.

This is for anyone who doesn't think it snows in the
desert. This cactus in our front yard, is called a cholla (Choy-a).

Albuquerque BalloonFest from our backyard. Happens in
early October.

Here's my hubby watching the balloons.

My EPPIE. A really nice trophy for
Listen to the Mockingbird.
OUR PETS

Hermie, our Cardigan Corgi. We didn't know what he was
until we saw a picture of Cardigan Corgis on the Internet. He's a bionic
dog with major back and knee surgery but boy can he hike!

Oliver. We found him starving in an alley near an
Italian restaurant. My hubby lured him with a shrimp and brought him
into the restaurant under his coat. He was so tiny I carried him in my
pocket for weeks. Now he weighs 18 pounds!

Little Guy. We went to the pound to get one cat and
came back with two. He's a hyperactive hockey player and is smarter than
we are. He has an immense fluffy tail he can wrap himself in.

Mr. McCoy, the second cat my hubby insisted on - 8
years old and blind in one eye. He follows us everywhere! And believe it
or not, he sings beautifully.
We love traveling and hiking. Here are a few recent
highlights:

Carlsbad Caverns. This is seriously deep into the
earth. Our calf muscles eventually recovered.

Indian Cliff dwellings dating back a thousand years.
Actually a scene from Eye of the Mountain God takes place at a
similar locale.

San Antonio Creek in the Jemez Mountains, our favorite
place to hike. You can see Hermie if you look hard.

Franz Josef Glacier tumbling down into rain forests in
New Zealand, one of our favorite countries. This was in 2004. The
glacier has shrunk about 100 yards since we last saw it in 1997.

My very own shot of a sperm whale diving off Kaikura,
New Zealand. We also video taped hundreds of porpoises leaping high into
the air.
