If you're in a book club or just looking for things to ponder, I've put together a few discussion questions for Lifeblood.

Reader's Guide

 1.  Lifeblood, like the first Rachel Chavez book Thicker Than Blood, is thriller/suspense novel with elements of mystery as well. Do you like this combination or do you prefer straight suspense (where the protagonist is in jeopardy), or straight mystery (where the main importance is the puzzle to be solved)? Why?

 2.  What scene in Lifeblood interested you most? How does it relate to the novel as a whole? Why did you like it?

 3.  Which do you think is most effective in Lifeblood: Character development? Plot? Dialog? Suspense? What are the pluses and minuses of each?

 4.  Were there enough plot twists to keep you interested? Which did you find most surprising? Do you like to anticipate what may happen next, or do you like to be surprised?

 5.  One aspect of Rachel’s evolving character includes the rediscovery of her Mexican ethnicity. Does this add interest to the story or is it irrelevant?

 6.  Is Rachel’s obsession with discovering what happened to the missing children believable? Why or why not?

 7.  Did the each of side characters Irene, Goldie, Hank, and Gabe contribute to the story? How, or why not?

 8.  Does Rachel’s romantic involvement(s) add to or detract from your enjoyment? Why?

 9.  What’s your opinion of Rachel’s final decision about Soledad? How is this decision likely to affect Rachel's future?

10. If a third book about Rachel is written, which characters from Lifeblood do you believe must make another appearance? Which could be done without? Why?
